Bartholomew Miller

Principal

Hello Spartan Nation!

My name is Dr. Bart Miller.  I am the principal of Porter High School.  I am overjoyed to be back at Sparta!!  I have just completed my 27th year in public education.  During my first 17 years, I was a Social Studies Teacher and then Assistant Principal at Aldine High School.  For the next 8 years, I was here at PHS as an Assistant Principal and then as Associate Principal.  For the last two years, I was the Principal at Cleveland High School. I was born and raised in Iowa.  I came to Texas while serving in the US Army.  I served as an Officer in the United States Army at Ft. Bliss, and in the Middle East during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  I received my Bachelor's in History from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa in 1989.  In 2008 I received my Masters in Administration from Sam Houston State University.  In 2021 I received my Doctorate in Educational Leadership from Sam Houston State University. I have two adult daughters, one of whom lives here in Houston, and the other lives in Austin.  I am also the parent of Penny.  She is a rescue dog from the ASPCA.  She sheds a lot.  I am surprised she isn't bald.

As your principal, the mission of PHS and its staff is to ensure your child succeeds in all aspects, be it academic, athletic, career and technical, or the fine arts, while enrolled at PHS.  We want your child to be prepared for the future once they cross the graduation stage and get their diploma! Expect Excellence from Every Spartan Every Day!!
