Hello Spartan Nation!  

My name is Dr. Bart Miller.  I am the principal of Porter High School.  I am entering my 30th year of education.  During my first 17 years, I was a social studies teacher and then assistant principal at Aldine High School.  For the next eight years, I was here at PHS as an assistant principal and then as associate principal.  For the last four years, I was the principal at Cleveland High School for two years, and here at PHS for two years.  

I was born and raised in Iowa.  I came to Texas while serving in the US Army.  I served as an officer in the United States Army at Ft. Bliss, and in the Middle East during Operations Desert Shield and Desert Storm.  I received my bachelor's in history from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa in 1989.  In 2008, I received my master's in administration from Sam Houston State University.  In 2021, I received my doctorate in educational leadership from Sam Houston State University. I have two adult daughters, one of whom lives in upstate New York, and the other lives in Austin.  I am also the parent of Penny.  She is a rescue dog from the ASPCA. God has shown his Grace and has allowed me to be an educator in NCISD, and specifically PHS!  

Our mission at Porter High School is to foster a collaborative environment where educators work together to ensure all students achieve higher levels.

Hello, Spartan Family!

My name is Shartarri Miller, and I am honored to serve as the dean of instruction at Porter High School. Every day, I have the privilege of working alongside incredible students, dedicated educators, and supportive families who make Porter High School such a special place. I believe that strong relationships, high expectations, and a caring school community create the foundation for student success.

I earned my bachelor's degree from Sam Houston State University and my master's degree in educational administration from Lamar University. My career in education began in Conroe ISD, where I taught social studies and coached both the step team and cheerleading. Those experiences reinforced my belief that every student deserves someone who believes in them, challenges them, and celebrates their successes.

As dean of instruction, I am passionate about supporting teachers, strengthening instruction, and creating opportunities for every Spartan to learn, grow, and achieve their goals. I believe that when we invest in our students and staff, amazing things happen.

It is a privilege to serve the Porter High School community, and I look forward to partnering with our students, families, and staff as we continue building a culture where every Spartan is supported, challenged, and inspired to succeed.

My name is Kevin Cook, and I am the associate principal at Porter High School. I’ve had the privilege of working in New Caney ISD for the past nine years, where I began my career as a coach and science teacher. These roles gave me valuable insights into student growth and the importance of creating an engaging, supportive environment for learning.

I am originally from Michigan, where I played football and lacrosse during my undergraduate college years. Those experiences shaped my approach to leadership and teamwork. I later earned my master's degree from Lamar University, which further fueled my passion for education and leadership.

Outside of work, I’m a dedicated husband, father, and Detroit Lions fan. Go Lions!

Hello! My name is Jessica Bennight, and I am entering my 23rd year in education. Throughout my career, I have had the opportunity to serve students in a variety of roles including teacher, coach, counselor, and administrator.

I began my career teaching and coaching at Bellville High School and later at Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena. I spent 11 years in the classroom and on the field, including 5 years as a head coach for track and cross country. I truly enjoyed working with student-athletes and helping them develop discipline and determination.

I earned my bachelor’s degree in kinesiology with a minor in history from Angelo State University and later received my M.Ed. in school counseling from Lamar University in 2015. I served as a school counselor at North Shore Senior High for four years, supporting students in both their academic and personal growth.

In 2018, I completed my principal certification and have spent the last six years working as an assistant principal and testing coordinator at Deer Park High School and La Porte High School.

I was the district summer school coordinator for NCISD this summer and oversaw both elementary and secondary instruction.

I am excited to be a part of the Spartan Family and look forward to supporting the students, staff, and families of Porter High School in a positive and meaningful way.

Hello! I am Cody Boone and I am proud to serve as an assistant principal at Porter High School. I grew up in Porter, Texas and attended NCISD schools throughout my childhood, eventually graduating from New Caney High. After high school, I graduated from Sam Houston State University with my Bachelor's of Science and a few years later graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a master's in educational leadership. This will be my 13th year working in education. I have previously been a teacher and coach in Katy ISD, Tomball ISD, and New Caney ISD. My goal is to make your student's overall experience at PHS a positive one. I’m Paul Froman, an assistant principal here at Porter High School, and I’m proud to say I’ve been in education for over 35 years. It's an incredible honor to work alongside the best teachers and students in the state. This year, I’ll be overseeing the senior class and all their exciting activities as we guide them toward graduation. Additionally, I’ll be serving students with last names from Mo to Ro, ensuring they have the support they need to succeed.

Hello Spartans, I’m proud to serve as an Assistant Principal here at Porter High School. I began my career in education as a special education paraprofessional before becoming a teacher and department chair. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Houston–Downtown and my master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Lamar University.

I’m truly believe in working hard, building strong relationships, and doing what’s best for kids. My husband and I have been together since high school, and we’re raising twin boys who are now seniors in the district. Being both an educator and a mom gives me a special appreciation for the students and families we serve. I’m proud to be a Spartan and excited for another great year at PHS!

Hello, my name is Shawronah McCray, and I am excited to join Porter High School as an assistant principal. I am entering my 20th year in education, with 10 years of experience teaching middle and high school science and nine years serving in educational leadership. Throughout my career, I have remained committed to creating positive learning environments where students and staff can thrive.

I am a proud graduate of Jasper High School. I earned my bachelor's degree from Texas Southern University and my master's degree in educational leadership from Concordia University in Austin, Texas.

My leadership experiences have included serving as the 9th grade principal at Nacogdoches High School, middle school principal at George I. Sanchez Charter School, and most recently as the 7th grade principal at Jones Middle School. Each of these roles has strengthened my passion for supporting students, empowering teachers, and building strong school communities. I am deeply passionate about education and building a culture of excellence. I believe that meaningful relationships are the foundation of student success, and I strive to lead with support, collaboration, and accountability. My educational philosophy is simple: I can't control how students come to me, but I can make sure they leave better than the way they came.

I am honored to become a part of the Porter High School family and look forward to building relationships with our students, staff, families, and community. I am excited for an outstanding school year and can't wait to work alongside our Spartan family as we continue to inspire excellence and help every student reach their fullest potential.
