Academic Planning
Foundation High School Program
All students in NCISD participate in the Foundation High School Program, as instituted by Texas House Bill 5.
Graduation Requirements for this program include:
- English Language Arts (4 Credits)
- Mathematics (4 Credits)
- Science (4 Credits)
- Social Studies (4 Credits)
- Physical Education (1 Credit)
- Languages Other Than English (2 Credits)
- Fine Arts (1 Credit)
- Elective Credits (6 Credits)
- 4 credits in career plan
- 2 additional elective credits
Through elective credits, students will earn an endorsement, a coherent sequence of courses related to a career or field of study. Endorsements may be earned in the following areas.
- Arts & Humanities
- Business and Industry
- Public Service
- STEM
- Multidisciplinary Studies.
Students may graduate with a distinguished level of acievement by meeting all of the requirements of the Foundation High School Program, earning at least one endorsement and earn credit for Algebra II.
Students may also earn performance acknowledgments for meeting college readiness standards, completing bilingual/biliteracy requirements, earning industry certifications, passing AP exams and/or earning college credit through Dual Credit courses.
Degree Plans
The individual degree plans take into consideration a focus of study, the pre-requisites for each class, and the best available courses for your chosen field of interest. If these individual degree plans do not meet your interests, a general degree plan may be formed out of the available electives and you will be assigned to a particular house that best matches your interest for guidance purposes.
Pass | Fail
New Caney ISD allows a Pass/Fail option for students in the Class of 2025 and 2026. Please review the guidelines below and view the Pass/Fail Information document for details. Students and parents are encouraged to reach out to their counselor with any questions.
